About

TCC's Communications Studies program provides an introduction to the concepts, theories, terminology, and current topics in the versatile and popular field of communications. This program prepares students for the challenges of a world that is shaped by communication that is rich with intercultural exchange. Students will examine and produce work in oral, written, media, and visual communication and practice critical skills in groups and one-on-one settings. This includes examination of power structures and systemic issues and barriers within various environments.

The Careers

Journalist

Narrate or write news stories, reviews, or commentary for print, broadcast, or other communications media.

Teacher

Teach courses in communications, such as organizational communications, public relations, radio/television broadcasting, and journalism.

Marketing

Gather information to determine potential sales of a product or service, or plan a marketing or advertising campaign.

Event planner

Coordinate activities of staff, convention personnel, or clients to make arrangements for group meetings, events, or conventions.
