Chemistry
Associate of Science - Specialization in Chemistry
About
Chemistry is the study of the composition, behavior, structure and properties of matter. The study of chemistry provides insights that are central to biology, geology, materials science, medicine, environmental science and many branches of engineering.
The Associate of Science (Track 1) degree is directly transferable to most Washington baccalaureate institutions (four-year colleges and universities). Students who transfer will be granted junior standing upon transfer.
For students who wish to major in chemistry and earn the Associate of Science degree with a Chemistry Specialization (90 credits total), review the degree completion requirements.
While in high school, students should pursue all available courses in mathematics, chemistry, biology and physics.
Career Options
A chemistry degree can lead to career paths in medicine, pharmacology, agriculture, chemical engineering, forensic science and biochemistry. TCC offers courses that cover the first 2 years of a typical 4-year college chemistry program as well as courses to develop skills needed for college-level chemistry courses.
