Outstanding Students of 2021
Not every student recognized on this page is graduating in 2021. But they have all been recognized for outstanding academic achievement and contributions to the TCC community.
Ellen Pinto Outstanding Students of the Year
Named after former a former TCC Trustee and civic activist, TCC’s Ellen Pinto Outstanding Student of the Year Award acknowledges high academic achievement, contributions to the TCC learning environment, and service to the surrounding community. At their May Meeting, the TCC Board of Trustees voted to name all three of the 2021 finalists Ellen Pinto Outstanding Student of the Year. Each student will be awarded $1,000.

All Washington Scholars
The annual All-Washington event celebrates two outstanding students from each community and technical college in Washington. Celebrated online this year, the event is hosted by South Puget Sound Community College.

Student Leadership Award
The Student Leadership Award recognizes students who have held planned and implemented events through student clubs and the Office of Student Engagement (OSE), led Student Government, and helped their fellow students find ways to engage with student life during a year when most activities had to be held online.

The Student Organization of the Year award is presented to an organization that has made a significant effort to further its purpose through its contribution to TCC and our overall community. This award recognizes the student organization that has demonstrated consistent flexibility, initiative, creativity, and perseverance through its activities and programs. Furthermore, the organization embodies TCC's spirit through its commitment to leadership development, collaboration among groups, and programmatic efforts to enhance the quality of campus life. The Student Organization of the Year is considered a role model for other organizations on our campus and has remained resilient and a role model for organizations and clubs throughout the pandemic.

Community Impact and Commitment to Social Justice
This award recognizes a club/organization that has contributed time, support, resources,
or money on a local level to better the Tacoma community. This award will be presented
to the club or organization that has demonstrated a commitment to justice and/or has
been an activist, trying to create positive change for the campus, the TCC community,
and/or the world.
