Emergency Medical Services Things to Know
Essential details on TCC's Emergency Medical Services program
Required Immunizations
Students will be required to have the following immunizations. It is recommended you begin collecting your immunization records when you apply as they will be due the first week of class. It is acceptable to wait until being accepted into the program to complete any missing requirements.
Tuberculosis (must be less than one year from the last date of the quarter you are
in class):
Quanitferon blood draw
If history of a positive TB skin test, a negative chest x-ray report must be submitted.
Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
Option A: Proof of TWO vaccines given at least 28 days apart
Option B: Proof of immunity by titer
If vaccinated prior to 1968, must be re-vaccinated
Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
Proof of Tdap vaccine after age 11
AND Proof of Tdap vaccine in the last 10 years
Hepatitis B
Option A: Titer draw showing proof of immunity.
Option B: Proof of 3 shot series PLUS a titer draw showing proof of immunity.
Option C: Never had the series or had a negative titer result, will need to show proof
that they have started the series or are restarting the series.
Influenza
Must have been received AFTER August 31 of the academic year. Not required Summer
Quarter.
Chicken Pox (Varicella)
Option A: Proof of TWO vaccines given at least 28 days apart.
Option B: Proof of immunity by titer.
COVID-19
At least two weeks must have passed since receiving the second dose of a 2-dose vaccine
series (Moderna or Pfizer), or at least two weeks after receiving a single dose (Johnson
& Johnson). Some Clinical sites are now accepting COVID-19 vaccination exemptions.
However, we cannot guarantee the availability of a clinical site with this exemption
as it is outside of TCC's control.
Accreditation
The TCC Paramedic Education Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), 9355 - 113th St. N, #7709, Seminole, FL 33775; telephone 727-210-2350, fax 727-210-2354, www.caahep.org.
Program Outcomes
The information listed below is a requirement requested by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), 1361 Park Street, Clearwater, FL 33756, 727-210-2350.
Paramedic Program Outcomes
CAAHEP Accredited Paramedic Programs and CoAEMSP Letter of Review (LoR) Programs track and report outcome measures annually to the Committee on Accreditation for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
The most current CoAEMSP Annual Report was for the calendar year 2020.
The most recent success rate for the National Registry of EMT Paramedic/State Cognitive exam was 100%.
The most recent positive placement rate for graduates was 100%. Positive placement is defined by the CoAEMSP as “Employed full or part-time in a related field and/or continuing his/her education and/or serving in the military.” Positive placement is measured at the completion of the program.
The most recent retention rate was 95.8%.
