Mission

The TCC Archives works to support the college mission of meaningful learning, inspiring equity and celebrating success in the lives of the college and community members. TCC has a long history of social engagement and the archive works to reflect this element of the college, focusing on student and faculty activism, community engagement and the history of the college in Tacoma.

TCC’s Archive is a treasured collection of school- and student-related historical materials available for student, faculty or public research.

Our extensive collection stretches back to 1965, when TCC first opened its doors. It contains primary source documents, including course catalogs, yearbooks, sports memorabilia, oral histories, faculty papers, student publications, photographs, and much more.

60th Anniversary Traveling Exhibition

60 years of TCC history are stewarded in the TCC Archives, including photos, publications, interviews, and more. These unique materials will illustrate the college's story with a traveling exhibition installed in various locations on campus for multiple events throughout 2025 as a celebration of TCC’s 60th anniversary. More to come!

In 1969 the TCC's Obi Society -- a precursor to today's Black Student Union on campus -- invited Muhammed Ali to visit the school and speak about civil rights.

State Champs

In 1971, the TCC Titans won the Intramural Basketball Championship for the first time.

 

Tricycle Race Winner

TCC Librarian Becky Sprout participates in a campus tricycle race in the early 2000s as a member of the "Librarian Barbarians."

 

Archive Donations

Think you have a piece of the past to donate to the TCC Archive? We welcome donated items from those who have a history at TCC, including former students, faculty and staff.

Common items we collect include:

  • Photographs, both digital and film
  • Course materials
  • Club materials, including meeting minutes, promotional artwork, and event posters
  • Oral histories and student publications
