Jason Prenovost, who currently serves as Athletic Director at Tacoma Community College, will be inducted into the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Hall of Fame this spring. A ceremony will be held May 30 at the Tacoma Convention Center. With a record of 306-97-66, Prenovost is the NWAC’s all-time winningest men’s soccer coach.

The NWAC is the governing organization for community and technical colleges sports in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia.

Prenovost, who began his college coaching career in 1994, has served as Head Men’s Soccer Coach at both TCC and Highline College. During his coaching career, his teams have achieved:

  • Three NWAC soccer championships
  • Eight regional championships
  • Nine NWAC championship final four appearances
  • Four NWAC championship finals appearances
  • Eighteen straight playoff appearances

Prenovost has been named NWAC Soccer Coach of the Year twice and Regional Coach of the Year eight times.

Most of Prenovost’s coaching career occurred at Highline; at TCC, he has primarily served as Athletic Director. But after an injury benched the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in 2016, Prenovost stepped into a coaching role and helped lead the Titans to an NWAC championship. He led the program for two more years as the head coach, winning another Championship in 2018 before retiring from coaching in the NWAC.

Prenovost’s coaching influence has spread far beyond the NWAC. His youth coaching record is filled with state, regional, and national championships. At the professional level, Prenovost worked with the Seattle Sounders U23 men’s and women’s programs and was part of four division and conference championships.

Prenovost has inspired many people through his skillful coaching, leadership, and commitment to the total student-athlete. At least ten of his former players have been or are currently coaching at the high school to Division One level, and many of his former players are also coaching at the youth level.

In addition to his role as TCC Athletic Director, Prenovost is the former chair of the NWAC men’s and women’s soccer committee, on which he still serves, and he is currently a member of the NWAC Executive Board. It was under his leadership as chair of the men’s and women’s soccer committee that NWAC soccer play began to rise to new heights. According to the NWAC nomination, “There are few people in any sport that have the respect and admiration that Coach Prenovost has in the soccer world.”

In 2021-22, Highline Community College named Prenovost Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.
