New TCC/PLU Transfer Agreement Comes with Automatic Admission, Scholarship
Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) announced today that TCC students who graduate with an Associate of Arts - DTA or an Associate of Science transfer degree and at least a 2.75 GPA will be eligible for automatic admission to PLU. The automatic admission comes with a $30,000 scholarship. Leadership from PLU and TCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding to administer the agreement through the 2024-2025 academic year, with an option to extend the partnership.
“This agreement makes it easier for our students to transfer to PLU, which provides an excellent education close to home,” TCC President Dr. Ivan Harrell said. “And the scholarship provides opportunity for students who might not otherwise have believed a private school education to be within reach.”
According to PLU Associate Dean of Admission Melody Ferguson, once qualifying students accept their non-binding admission, their scholarship and financial aid will be automatically moved through the admissions process. Nursing and Running Start students are not currently eligible for automatic admission.
“Tacoma Community College has a long history of providing an exceptional education to local students,” said PLU President Allan Belton. “TCC alumni who enroll at PLU have a proven track record of strong performance in PLU classrooms, enriching our campus, and going on to lead and serve in the Tacoma/Pierce County community.”
Students interested in learning more will have an opportunity to talk with PLU transfer advisors at the April 25 Transfer Fair, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Building 11 Student Center.
