About the Event: It is common within healthcare ethics and in popular discourse for disabled people to claim that our lives are "disvalued" by doctors and by the public in general. This talk will explore the claim and try to clarify exactly what people mean when they say that they feel their life has been "disvalued." Specifically, an argument will be made that the public response to the COVID-19 pandemic has, unfortunately, helped bring into sharp relief exactly how disabled lives are most commonly disvalued.

About the Event: In this presentation, Kelsey will be talking about her own and others’ experiences navigating social media as disabled creators and users. We will explore what the social media world is currently like for disabled people and how everyone can make it more accessible for disabled users.
