Register for April 10 Event with Ami Hyten, JD

Register now to attend the first spring quarter Disability & Intersectionality Speaker Series event, held online 12:30 - 2 p.m. Monday, April 10.

Ami Hyten, JD, presents "The 'Little' YT Lies of Independent Living: Choice and Control." Inspired by the Civil Rights Movement, the Independent Living Movement which gained traction in the 1970s seeks to de-institutionalize Disabled people and give them the supports they need to live in their own communities. But Hyten argues that the movement was founded in white privilege, and that changes are needed if the movement is to serve the needs of Black and Brown Disabled people.

This event is presented by TCC Access Services.
