Personal Preparedness Class 

Presented by Tacoma and Pierce County Emergency Management Departments

2 – 3 p.m., Registration Required

Getting prepared for disasters and emergencies is a lot easier than we think! Learn about making a plan and building a kit; this presentation includes information about hazards in Pierce County and risks to residents. Everyone can do something to get prepared that doesn’t have to cost a lot of money or take a lot of time. (One hour)

Stop the Bleed Training 

Presented by TCC’s Campus Safety Department

9 – 10 a.m., Registration Required, 15 students max

Stop the Bleed trains individuals to save lives through three basic actions to stop life-threatening bleeding. Advances made by military medicine and research in hemorrhage control during the military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq have informed the work of this initiative which exemplifies translation of knowledge back to the homeland to the benefit of the general public. (One hour)

Care-a-Van Mobile Health Clinic 

Presented by the WA Department of Health

10am - 2pm in the Building 11 Student Center. Walk-in only.

The following services are available at no cost regardless of insurance status:

  • A1C testing
  • Blood glucose screening
  • Blood pressure screening
  • BMI screening
  • Mental health screening
  • Naloxone (Narcan) distribution
  • Vaccine education
  • Vision testing

Patients will be seen on first come, first served basis.

 

Opioid Overdose Recognition and Response Class 

Presented by WA Department of Health

10 – 11 a.m. Registration Required.

Learn about:

  • Trends in naloxone access and overdose response.
  • How to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses using Naloxone.
  • Post overdose care
  • Naloxone storage
