Spring 2020: Online Counseling
During this time the Counseling Center is closed, but open remotely to help students.
Online counseling sessions are carried out via a privacy protected internet platform called Doxy.me. The Counseling Center is implementing this change in order to help protect you and the physical health and safety of our community. You can choose to talk to your counselor through either video chat, or by using audio only.
Scheduling an Appointment
If you are a student continuing sessions: please email your counselor directly using the links below.
Otherwise to create your first new counseling appointment, you can schedule using the Counseling's Microsoft Bookings page.
You may also choose to contact the Counseling Center Staff Email. Once your information is received, you will be contacted within 1-2 business days* and provided with the counseling session paperwork. At that time, we will also deliver next steps for accessing Doxy.me and your counseling appointment.
Alternatively, you can schedule a Counseling appointment by connecting to the Advising Center Zoom Lobby during their hours, and requesting to schedule with a counselor.

Our team of professionally trained counselors are available to meet with you in an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality. All counseling services – with the exception of vocational testing – is offered at no charge to TCC students.
People are powerful! The relationships we create with family members, friends and peers allow us to apply meaning to our own circumstances. When working with students, I use relationships to help explore patterns and identify solutions to address concerns like family conflict, life/academic transitions, trauma, anxiety and crisis intervention. I have experience working with active-duty service members, veterans and students of various cultural backgrounds in schools, private practice and on Joint Base Lewis-McCord. As a Counselor at TCC, I believe each person’s life is unique and together we will utilize your distinct strengths to develop goals that will help you succeed.
*Dave Howard will not be providing counseling Spring Quarter, 2020
I am honored to be part of people’s learning journey. I have been at TCC for more than 15 years and I am devoted to the success of our students. I am originally from Buffalo, N.Y., and I have a BA from SUNY Potsdam. I also have a M.Ed. from Alabama A&M University and a Doctorate in Counseling from George Washington University.
I have always had a special interest in issues surrounding grief and loss. I use a variety of counseling techniques, but I approach every situation as unique. I strongly believe that all people have the ability to play a positive role in their life and the lives of others. We all have tremendous potential. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to explore that potential with the people I speak with.
As a TCC Counselor, it is my job and passion to assist students with challenges that may interfere with school and wellness. Through solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral approaches, my goal is to help students feel more empowered to move forward in productive and healthy ways. The process takes place by active listening and leading the student back to their own reasoned, confident and compassionate inner voice as a source of wisdom and direction. I have worked as a school counselor for many years and especially enjoy working with the community college population.
It is a huge privilege to walk besides students as they share stories and explore who they are. I enjoy supporting college students with all of the complexities of life through an authentic relationship while striving to understand realities. I am here to provide support, kind challenge, and intentional love and guidance in a collaborative and person centered manner to all students. I strive to be as anti-oppressive, intersectional, and holistic as possible while helping folks navigate the many systems that exist to get care and their needs met in healthy, productive, and meaningful ways.
It is an honor and privilege to be able to work with students. I can assist you in assessing, planning, and implementing your immediate and long-range academic goals. Additionally, I am available to assist you in assessing your aptitudes, abilities, and interests concerning career pathways. Lastly, I recognize that personal concerns can be a major influence to student success or lack thereof. My natural laid back disposition often helps people relax and feel comfortable to talk. I am not going to pretend to have all the answers or solutions to a person’s problem(s), but together we can take steps to identify possible options and create an action plan to address that which concerns you most.
As a student at TCC, you have so many wonderful opportunities for personal and academic growth. There are times, however, when your journey might be interrupted by an obstacle that is difficult to navigate alone. I am here for you. I would like to offer you a safe place to explore your feelings and options. I am interested in you as a whole person. If you are interested in exploring new choices, thoughts and behaviors, let’s work together to develop the skills that will allow you to reach your full potential. I have many years of experience as a counselor at TCC and I continue to admire the strength and determination of our students.
