About

OSE Position: Multicultural and Education

What are you going to school for?  I chose to study in the field of sociology because it has always been an interest of mine to better understand the people and cultures around me. After TCC, I plan to continue my education at a four-year college, possibly at the University of Washington. I hope to become a school counselor with my degree.

What do you want to achieve as an Office of Student Engagement member this year? As an OSE member this year, I aim to strengthen the school pillars of diversity and inclusion. I would like my service to reflect the voices of all TCC students.

What made you decide to become a TCC student? I grew up in the N. Mariana Islands which is more than five thousand miles of ocean away from WA, and as much as I love my home, it was time for me to see the world. Becoming a TCC student meant access to many educational resources while still being able to afford rent!

What advice do you have for new students starting at TCC this year? When I first came to TCC last year, I was starting new and experienced a massive culture shock that hindered me from being myself. My advice for new students at TCC is to not let your background or history stop you from striving in a place that grows off of diversified thoughts, ideas, and stories.

What is one thing you want TCC students to know about you that you feel will help them understand you better? Something important about myself is that as awkward as I may be sometimes, I love meeting new people. Because I am thousands of miles away from my family and home, I feel that making friends is the support needed for my success here at TCC.

If you could be any character from a childhood fairytale, book, movie, or TV show; who would you be and why?  If I could be any character from a childhood TV show, I would be Blossom from The Powerpuff Girls because she was part of a trio which reminds me of growing up with my two sisters. Blossom was the leader and most level-headed out of the three which is still true of my sisters today (love them though).

You’re at a make-your-own sundae bar. Which toppings do you choose? I like my desserts simple! I would want a vanilla sundae with caramel sauce and a dash of pecans...yummy :)

If you could have any super power what would it be and why? If I could have any superpower, I would want it to be flawless restoration (healing) of all emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical damage. A little healing can go a long way.
