About

Name: Daniel Mansulla “Dun Dun”

OSE Position: Multicultural and Education

What are you going to school for? Exercise Science (Study of Kinesiology to become a Personal Trainer).

What do you want to achieve as an Office of Student Engagement member this year? I want to achieve growth and progress. Not only for myself, but the environment and people around me. I don't want our situations and labels to define who we are as people. I want the world to get to know us as people. For who we really are. Not by stereotypes or generalizations. I want us all to become more than we ever thought possible. I want to educate and listen. Experience as many new things as possible. Grow and become a better man each day. Help as many people as I can. Leave nothing but memories and positive energy. I want to make my momma proud and graduate!

What made you decide to become a TCC student? At first it was the money and word of mouth from friends who told me good things about TCC. I knew I wouldn't be able to afford to go to a university because my momma and I have always struggled with financial troubles. Then what made me stay was the people. Friends and connections I had made. Opportunities and programs I got involved with led me to experiences I couldn't imagine. The support and people around me got me through a lot my first year.

What advice do you have for new students starting at TCC this year? Keep pushing. No matter what comes at you a thousand miles a minute your first year. Don't let it stop you from what you want to become. Don't let fear control you. You control yourself. Grow, progress, learn, educate yourself and those around you. Don't be afraid to ask for help (something I’m still struggling with). Achieve all your goals and then some. Focus on graduation! Have a plan to the best of your ability and don't be stagnant! We are all learning and becoming better every single day. Don't forget you'll make mistakes along the way. Don't let them define you. Bounce back and use it as an opportunity to grow.

What is one thing you want TCC students to know about you that you feel will help them understand you better? I come from a single parent household. We have struggled our entire lives. I don't let my stereotype and generalization of being a Native American male define me. I am so much more than that if you get to know me. I keep to myself a lot because I’m always thinking. I'm empathetic and resilient. I am strong and emotional. I talk a lot as you can read. I always strive for progress.

If you could be any character from a childhood fairytale, book, movie, or TV show; who would you be and why? I would be Squanto. I have seen both sides of the world being of mixed ethnicities. Native American and European. I have long hair and feathers. I am tough and resilient. I have been at one time or another "kidnapped" from my home and have seen my people go through hard times.

You’re at a make-your-own sundae bar. Which toppings do you choose? Chocolate chips, whipped cream, chocolate chip cookies, always vanilla flavored ice cream. That's all that's required.

If you could have any super power what would it be and why? Ability to change my superpower to whatever I want, whenever I want! So I could use them all at any time I desire.
