Policy

On a quarterly or other periodic basis as determined by the College, the College will solicit nominations and recognize employee(s) and or team(s) who have demonstrated noteworthy success or achievement for an employee recognition award called the Tahoma Award.

Nominations may be made by any person. Managers and supervisors, however, are expected to monitor and recognize performance and where appropriate, to nominate employee(s) or work team(s) from their area.

Recognition awards will be a combination of cash payment to an employee and a tangible item symbolic of the achievement and recognition. The total combined value of the cash and tangible item shall not exceed the amount allowable by law or regulation.

Any decision regarding the type or amount of the award or to grant or not grant employee recognition award(s) is at the College’s discretion.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for providing awards to employees in recognition of noteworthy successes and achievements, and exemplary behavior and performance. These awards are intended to reinforce College values in a simple yet meaningful manner that will also assist in boosting employee morale.

To Whom Does This Policy Apply

This policy applies to all classified service, exempt, academic and part-time temporary employees, and volunteers. This policy does not apply to students or student employees.
